At least 320 people have died in northern Pakistan over the past 48 hours as torrential monsoon rains triggered flash floods, the country’s disaster management authority said on Saturday.

The death toll from flash floods and landslides caused by heavy rains in Pakistan rose to 321, authorities said on Saturday. Most of the dead are in the northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where the Provincial Disaster Management Authority Khyber Pakhtunkhwa said 307 people were killed.

Flash floods triggered by torrential rains have killed over 280 people in India and Pakistan and left scores of others missing, officials said Friday, as rescuers brought to safety some 1,600 people from two mountainous districts in the neighboring countries.
