Nearly three decades after Erik and Lyle Menendez were sentenced to life in prison for the murders of their parents, a California judge has reopened a door many believed would remain closed.

The brothers were resentenced to 50 years to life in prison, which makes them immediately eligible for parole.

Lyle and Erik Menendez could be eligible to walk free after more than 30 years in prison for the vicious 1989 shotgun slayings of their parents — and they might even be released as early as the coming weeks.
