Perplexiity has entered the web browser market with an AI-driven agentic browser called Comet as part of its AI products expansion.

Search, AI, browsers: all three technologies naturally mix together. So it should be no surprise that AI-powered search engine, Perplexity AI, is teasing its entry into the browser market with “Comet.

Perplexity released a teaser of its AI web browser "Comet". This browser is likely to include a new feature called Agentic Search, although the company has not yet revealed its launch date, but has started a waitlist for interested users,

Since its founding in 2022, Perplexity has been known for shaking up the world of online search. With the debut of Comet, the company is aiming to expand its innovation beyond search engines and transform how users interact with the internet.

In a post to X on Monday, February 24, Perplexity announced Comet, describing it as “A Browser for Agentic Search by Perplexity”. Clicking through from that post allows you to sign up to be among the first to use the browser when it becomes available. There’s no word on when that will be just yet

The company is offering scant details about this browser called Comet, so I asked Perplexity AI for more information.

"Though the space is crowded with competitors, no one has yet built a robust AI integration into the browser experience in a way that takes off with consumers," said Damian Rollis
