A lot of damage was done throughout Purcell after an EF-1 tornado ripped through the city early Thursday morning.
A severe storm system that produced tornadoes in Oklahoma is moving toward Ohio. The storm is expected to bring damaging winds and heavy rain to Ohio on Thursday evening. The system is predicted to weaken as it moves eastward across the state overnight.
Debris and damage were found after a tornado touched down Thursday morning in Purcell. Around 7:30 a.m., radar confirmed tornado debris near North Fourth Street east of Highway 77. KOCO 5 Field Meteorologist Michael was in Purcell shortly afterward, showing some fences knocked down and limbs on the ground.
Strong to severe storms will be possible on Friday in Alabama, and they could arrive as soon as the early morning hours in some areas. The National Weather Service said the strongest storms could have damaging winds, hail and possibly a tornado or two.
