A protection zone has been set up following an outbreak of bird flu in Angus. Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI), also known as H5N1, was reported at Over Ascreavie House, Kingoldrum, in the Kirriemuir area.

Photos of bare grocery refrigerator cases and tales of egg prices gone wild have been rampant on social media this winter. The scenes aren’t manufactured drama. The U.S. Department of Agriculture noted last week that some grocery stores have been limiting the number of cartons customers can buy and hanging signs announcing shortages where cartons of eggs would normally be stacked.

Bird flu detected at Maryland poultry farm on Eastern Shore, Maryland officials say

Maryland Ag. Secretary Atticks said sick birds had been quarantined and that Marylanders should not change their diets because of the single positive bird flu case.

Maryland agriculture officials have confirmed a case of bird flu at a commercial poultry operation in Caroline County. This is the first case linked to a poultry operation in Maryland and follows two cases reported in Delaware.
