Shedeur Sanders is no longer the favorite to go No. 1 overall in the 2025 NFL Draft. The Colorado quarterback has been surpassed by Miami’s Cam Ward as the most likely player to be the first off the board in April, according to oddsmakers at BetMGM Sportsbook.

Ward and Titans defensive back Quandre Diggs are cousins. Ward's parents lived close to Diggs' mother in Texas as Ward grew up, according to a 2022 story in The Athletic, with Diggs giving Ward advice as he worked through the high school ranks and subscribing to ESPN+ to watch Ward at Incarnate Word.
And then, at No. 3, Reid has the Giants taking Colorado wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter — the reigning Heisman Trophy winner. He also is the best overall prospect in this draft, according to Pro Football Focus. But he can’t play quarterback.
The only reason the Giants should take a QB not named Sanders or Ward at No. 3 is if Drew Allar declares for the draft at the last minute. Allar, a 6-foot-5, 230-pound standout at Penn State, has drawn comparisons to peak Carson Wentz and CJ Stroud. Alas, he might just stay in school — which is probably the best thing for his development.
