After the U.S. moved to block Iraq's imports of electricity from Iran, Baghdad is looking to Qatar and Oman as possible options should Washington do the same regarding their trade in gas, the boss of Iraq's South Gas Company said on Monday.

Iran said it would not negotiate under "intimidation", after US President Donald Trump sought to ratchet up pressure on Tehran by ending a sanctions waiver that had allowed Iraq to buy electricity from its Shi'ite neighbour.

The Iraqi prime minister's foreign affairs adviser, Farhad Alaaeldin, told a local Iraqi TV channel on Wednesday that the waiver guaranteed by the United States on importing Iranian gas has not been revoked and is still in effect.
