In an update Sunday, Mayor Cherelle Parker said that 22 people were injured. Of those, five people remain hospitalized, with three of them in critical condition.

A regional jet departed Kansas and headed to one of the country’s most congested and complicated flight approaches, just south of the brightly illuminated marble monuments of Washington, DC. The journey ended as the deadliest US aviation disaster in nearly a quarter century.

Investigators have also located the aircraft's black box, CBS reports. It could provide clues into the cause of the crash.

Jet Rescue Air Ambulance said it was unlikely anyone on board survived the crash Friday. One person who was in a car was also killed.
