The Gifford Fire in the Los Padres National Forest has been 7% contained as officials battled new starts near Big Bear Lake and Ribbonwood.

The fire was first reported shortly before 9:30 a.m. in the Holcomb Valley area, about 5 miles north of Big Bear.
