Debris that still remains from Hurricane Helene is coated in snow and ice as major winter storm moves over Asheville, North Carolina.

With the potential winter storm impacts hitting Friday, power crews across Western North Carolina are standing by and ready to be deployed.

A winter storm watch has been issued for much of North Carolina, including the Charlotte area, as the state prepares for snow later this week. The watch will go into effect in most counties on Friday morning and will last through Saturday morning.
