Twelfth-seeded Holger Rune beat fifth-seeded Daniil Medvedev 7-6, 6-4 on Saturday to advance to the BNP Paribas Open final.

Denmark's Holger Rune snapped a seven-match semi-final losing streak to reach the Indian Wells final, beating Russian Daniil Medvedev 7-5 6-4 in a tight match on Saturday. Rune, the number 12 seed, lost to Medvedev in the quarter-finals a year ago and will next play the winner of the match between Briton Jack Draper and back-to-back defending champion Carlos Alcaraz of Spain.

Clearly tired of losing big matches to more accomplished players, Rune, the 21-year-old from Denmark who has yet to fulfill the promise of his first seasons, played one of the most mature and thoughtful matches of his still young career in the semifinal of the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells against two-time finalist Daniil Medvedev.

Britain's Jack Draper is helped by a controversial video call in his favour to earn a coming-of-age win over four-time major champion Carlos Alcaraz.

Medvedev was dragged into a decider by Fils, but eventually came through in a thrilling finale. And the Russian was in buoyant mood after booking his spot in the last four.
