The Chicago Bears added a big-time playmaker at wide receiver when they selected Luther Burden III with the 39th overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft. Burden joins a receiver room led by veteran DJ Moore and second-year pro Rome Odunze, a first-round pick last year.

Three pure wide receivers in Arizona's Tetairoa McMillan, Ohio State's Emeka Egbuka and Texas' Matthew Golden came off the board in the first round, but Burden did not hear his name called. Travis Hunter, the cornerback/wide receiver hybrid, went No. 2 overall to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Despite the firepower WR Luther Burden III will bring to the Chicago Bears defense, the immediate post-selection grades aren't looking great.
