KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — An emboldened Russia has ramped up military offensives on two fronts in Ukraine, scattering Kyiv’s precious reserve troops and threatening to expand the fighting to a new Ukrainian region as each side seeks an advantage before the fighting season wanes in the autumn.

Russia ramped up drone attacks on Ukraine dramatically in June, an AFP analysis published Tuesday showed, pressuring the war-torn country's stretched air defence systems and exhausted civilian population.

The Ukrainian Air Force said on Monday that Russian forces had deployed 107 kamikaze drones and various decoy devices during the overnight operation. According to its statement on Telegram, 74 of these drones were successfully intercepted.

On Tuesday the White House said that it had cut off some weapons deliveries to Ukraine in order "to put America's interests first".

Ukraine is moving forward with plans for joint weapons production with allies while the U.S. halts some arms shipments.
