SHREVEPORT, LA. — The Shreveport Department of Public Works is notifying residents that garbage collection routes are taking longer than expected due to an unusually high volume of post-holiday waste.

Baton Rouge will not collect curbside garbage, recycling and out-of-cart items on Jan. 1 because of the New Year’s holiday, Mayor-President Sid Edwards’ office said in a news release Tuesday.
