An eruption of the Krasheninnikov volcano in Russia expelled a huge ash plume and may be linked to the earthquake that triggered tsunami warnings on 29 July

Russia’s Krasheninnikov volcano erupted for the first time in centuries on August 3, sending ash and gas nearly four miles into the atmosphere—less than 150 miles away from the epicenter of the magnitude 8.

The most notable of the seven volcanoes to erupt is Krasheninnikov. On Sunday, Krasheninnikov shot an ash plume up to 3.7 miles (6 kilometers) into the air, according to the BBC. It was the first time experts had registered its eruption since the 15th century.
