If space is an issue then a lathe milling attachment might be the best thing. If cost is the issue then get a real mill. On the flip side a milling attachment on a lathe will take advantage of the power feeds.

HOWEVER, you can't do high quality work with low quality machines. If the lathe is not very robust, you won't have luck milling with it- with a VersaMil OR a milling attachment.

My view is that all of the milling attachments made by South Bend were meant for the SB9. I bought one in excellent shape and made a adapter to fit my 10L. Lord Byron
