In 1955, the company’s name was changed to South Bend Tackle to dispel the image of live bait given by the company’s original name and to let the public know that South Bend marketed a full-line of rods, reels, lures, and accessories, as it had for over 30 years.

South Bend started producing these brass "Good Luck" tokens beginning in 1932 and offered them up into the 1950s. Many folks don't realize there are actually four different versions of these, although the most noticeable changes came between the first and second versions.
