A superb restoration by Dennis Turk in the U.S.A., this 1936 Model 415 shows the steady progression from the early, light Model 5 Type 405 towards the Models A, B and C 9-inch Workshop lathes of the late 1930s - the "4" in "415" indicating a bench countershaft model, or a lathe driven by a similar countershaft, but on simple cast-iron floor legs.

Apr 1, 2010 · Your lathe is known as a 9" Workshop model, but also by the model number, which should be a 405, followed by a letter indicating the bed length. I happen to have a 405-Y, serial 56617, pretty close to yours.
