May 17, 2020 · I have a book on Oregon Geographic Names and even it doesn't list a good history. The author basically says he can't even find who came up with the name "Three Sisters" let alone an indigenous name. The author.ays the indigenous people called the region Clamite. Or something similar.

Jun 24, 2024 · I'm am planning on doing three days in in Three Sisters Wilderness. What is a reasonable and worthwhile way to see get an introductory look at what it has to offer. Ideally, I want to park, pack in, sleep Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights and pack out.

Aug 6, 2023 · Hi there, a group of buddies and I will be flying out to Three Sisters 50 mile loop. Never been to the area so few questions if anyone is familiar with the area or has done this loop trail. Hard to figure out what is needed from a permit perspective.

Dec 29, 2021 · The people of the Warm Springs Tribe first called them Klah Klahnee (Three Points), Methodist from Salem called them Faith, Hope and Charity in the 1840’s, Geologist Edwin Hodge thought they were the remnants of mythical Mount Multnomah in the 1920’s, now on USGS maps they are called North, Middle and South Sister.

Aug 24, 2022 · Yes - Recreatuon.gov is where you get the permit. I think this is the first year permits are required for the Three Sisters Wildness area, both for day hiking and for overnights. Some permits are released at the beginning of the season, but a good percentage are released 7 days in advance of your intended start date.

Feb 26, 2022 · From our 2019 backpack on the 3 Sisters loop, which includes part of the PCT. The sisters are three dormant volcanoes in the Cascade range. We went counterclockwise, starting at the Pole Creek TH. This is a spectacular hike and camp destination! We snagged the best site here. Most sites are far above the lake and well separated from each other.

Apr 27, 2020 · The Three Sisters are a super-volcano that has been "breathing" of late. Its rated as a "Very High" threat potential by the USGS. If that goes it will be in the VERY VERY bad range.
