Aug 16, 2022 · Overall I think there's a really good argument that Michkov would go 1st in every draft from 2017 onwards. Him having the most Russian factor ever (signed long term, Russian war shit, etc) combined with another borderline generational player being in the draft keeps him #2 and he could fall further because of the Russian stuff or a tough year.

Jun 24, 2024 · Bedard isn’t McDavid level, but probably above Eichel. Michkov was the main competition for Bedard, talent-wise. The only reason he dropped as far as he did was the Russian factor and that he’d already signed a long-term contract with SKA. Michkov coming over early is for sure a coup for Philly, and he’s a serious offensive talent.

Dec 8, 2021 · If Michkov stays through his KHL deal, he would be drafted in 2022 and come over at the end of the 25-26 season whenever his KHL season ended - that's the exact same situation that Kuzy ended up being (comes over at the end of the season 3 years after being drafted).

Oct 6, 2023 · Tom Willander isn't in the game either, which is funny cause I think he was in NHL 23 without needing to be created. But because he committed to the NCAA for the next year or two he isn't in NHL 24 and likely won't be in NHL 25. Michkov has a 3 year KHL deal I think, so he won't be in for a long while.

Michkov is good but he's definitely got his flaws. I found his vision to be elite but his play under pressure to a different story. He looked world class against slow teams but looked like a complete liability against fast forecheckers (which isn't surprising as a 17 year old in a men's league).

May 9, 2023 · Michkov’s contract is probably a signal of what path they will continue to go down as Russian kids are pushed harder to stay home and grow more before leaving. I don’t think I’ve heard anything about him being forced to stay.. just seems like his coaches/teams/league wanted a star like him to stick around and he was fine with it so he stayed.
