Darning is a repair technique where you create a woven patch over the hole or in the hole. In the Basics, we discuss what weaving is and how it is made. To bring your darning work to the next level you need to know what kind of weaving pattern you can use. This is an easy repair (but requires a bit of patience) which is shown in the video above from Fixing Fashion and at their academy. Darn it! We need tips for darning holes! 1) Place a small piece of fabric and stabilizer underneath area to repair. 2) For machines with drop feed, lower the feed teeth; for machines without drop feed, cover feed teeth with darning plate. 3) Select straight stitch and attach Darning/Embroidery Foot. 4) Thread machine with thread color to match fabric and free motion back and forth, covering area of the hole. 5) Turn fabric 90 degrees and repeat! | Singer Sewing
