Patellar Grind Test (Clarke's Sign): Purpose: Assesses for patellofemoral pain syndrome, chondromalacia patellae, or arthritis behind the kneecap. Procedure: Patient lies supine with the knee extended. The examiner applies downward pressure on the superior patella and asks the patient to tighten their quadriceps.
