Spelling Rules for c, k and ck

Some nuances below: 1) Many of the words that end in -ck are actually loans, since words natively ending in -cce became -tch endings. Most native instances of -cce -> -ck come from vowels that only later shifted to i/e (e.g. sticca -> *sticce > sticke > stick) 2) This spelling only really happens after historical short vowels, as long vowels typically were only followed by one consonant, not two (for reasons explained in a recent video on “silent E”).
